In 1947, Rover’s chief designer, Maurice Wilks, began designing a capable 4×4 vehicle for the Rover, using military vehicles used by the US army as a model. The first Land Rover with an 80-inch wheelbase was presented at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948, and the world’s most capable off-road vehicle was manufactured with thoughtful updates until 2016.

This Defender was sold on 28.05.2008 as new from an official Land Rover dealer in Lüdenscheid, Germany. The Defender was imported to Finland in Ostrobothnia in 2015 with approximately 55 thousand km. Since 2017, the car has been used by the same Land Rover enthusiast in Southwest Finland for 150,000 km before we bought it.

The Defender has been well cared for and has been serviced and repaired proactively. The original owner’s manuals and service book have been preserved with the car. The chassis an body are both in very good condition. In 2018, the insurance company bought the car due to odor (smoke) damage (the car was in service shop with the back door open when a fire in the garage broke out). The old owner bought the car back from the insurance company and the interior was washed, ozonized and partially renewed.

The car’s equipment includes, among other things, a Webasto fuel heater, heated windshield and rear window, heated seats, air conditioning, Zermatt Silver metallic paint, Toyo MT tires with black Land Rover Sawtooth rims, a snorkel and a high-quality and sturdy roof rack. New HD front bumper with LED daytime running lights.

The car has undergone a large B-service in June at 216 000 (06/26), where the engine oil and filter, transmission oils, transfer case oils, differential oils and the fuel filter have been renewed. During the last ownership among other things, a clutch, front axle differential, turbo and the intercooler have been renewed.
