Rover’s chief designer Maurice Wilks began designing a capable off-road vehicle for the British brand in 1947, using military vehicles used by the US Army as a model. The first Land Rover with an 80-inch wheelbase was introduced at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948 and the world’s most capable off-road vehicle was produced with thoughtful updates until 2016.
In 2015, Land Rover decided to celebrate the Defender’s approaching swan song with a special Heritage model of 400 cars. Heritage Defender got the details of which paid homage to the early Land Rover Series models.
The car in question is an original short-wheelbase Land Rover Defender 90. The Keswick Green-colored 2-seater was as sold new in Germany from the official Land Rover dealer in Bielefeld and registered on 21.02.2011. The engine is a Td4 “Puma” and the transmission is a 6-speed manual. Factory equipment includes air conditioning, heated windscreen and rear window and electric windows. The car has integrated navigation with a parking camera.
The history is known and the original instruction manuals and service book are available in the original Land Rover vinyl folder. The car has been serviced regularly. We bought the car from Traunstein, Germany where the car was sold in 2013.
In the fall of 2025, we thoroughly refurbished and serviced the car, which was in excellent original condition.
The engine oils and filter, transmission oils, transferbox oils and transmission oils were replaced. The coolant, brake fluids and fuel filter were renewed. The clutch was completely renewed. The brake calipers and brake pads were renewed. The accessory belts with tensioners and the alternator freewheel were renewed.
We equipped the car according to the Heritage special model: The car was fitted with a new Heritage grille and front light surroundings painted in the body color, as well as Land Rover’s original Wolf wheels. New BF Goodrich MT tires in the original 235/85/16 size were installed on the wheels. The new front bumper was painted in an aluminum silver tone.
Fabric upholstery with soundproofing was installed in the luggage compartment.
The chassis is rust-proofed and in excellent condition.
