In 1947, Rover’s chief designer, Maurice Wilks, began designing a capable 4×4 vehicle for the Rover, using military vehicles used by the US army as a model. The first Land Rover with an 80-inch wheelbase was presented at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948, and the world’s most capable off-road vehicle was manufactured with thoughtful updates until 2016.

This ‘2009 Land Rover 110 Td4 ownership history is known since new. The Defender 110” Td4 was sold as new from an official Land Rover dealer and was imported to Finland as few years old and with approximately 60,000 km’s. The Defender has been regularly serviced and repaired at services specialized in Land Rovers. The service book and comprehensive service history come with the car.

The car’s equipment includes, among other things, Webasto with smart phone control, heated windshield and rear window, heated seats, air conditioning, Santorini Black special color, BF Goodrich MT tires with Modular rims, and LED lights and additional lights both front and rear.

Since new, the car has been regularly serviced and repaired at services specialized in Land Rovers. Car is protected from rust and both the body and chassis in very good condition.

On 132 000 km’s (07/25), a major B service done by us, with new engine oils with filter, gearbox oils, transfer box oils, differential oils, and fuel filter renewed.

Over the past few years, the car has also been upgraded with new start motor, auxiliar belt with tensioner, air conditioning coil, condenser and pipes, and new BF Goodrich MT tires.

In the mid-1970s, Land Rover was one of few British Leyland’s profitable car manufacturers. However, the off-road vehicle engine was outdated and not conducive to long journeys on the road – the only options available were four-cylinder 2.25-litre petrol and diesel engines and a 2.6-litre inline six -engine designed by Rover in the 1940s. There was a demand, especially in Australia, for off-road vehicles capable of long highway journeys at 100 kilometres per hour, and Toyota had already hit this market with the 3.8-litre engine in the Land Cruiser.

The Land Rover Stage One V8 was introduced in 1979 and was largely based on the 109-inch wheelbase Series III introduced eight years earlier. Rover’s 3.5 V8 and more sturdy LT95 gearbox were borrowed from the Range Rover. The front end was shaped flat to accommodate the engine. The result was a genuine tool-like Land Rover with a civilised powerplant that enabled speeds of over one hundred kilometres per hour. A small number of cars were produced between 1979 and 1985, but the exact number is not known and there are very few survived examples.

We imported this example from Belgium to Finland in 2024. The car is the only left-hand drive Land Rover Stage One V8 in driving condition known to us in Finland.

The Stage One V8 was restored in the 2020s from a well-preserved, original car:

The body has been restored and painted in the original Marine Blue shade. The original side tapes have been renewed. The chassis has been washed, surface rusts has sandblasted, minor rust damage has been repaired and the chassis has been rust-protected.

All seats, door trims, carpets, seat belts and headliner have been renewed. The dashboard, switches and body inside of the car have been preserved in very good original condition.

The wearing parts of the suspension and steering have been renewed, the swivel balls and the steering column have been renewed. New parabolic springs and new shock absorbers. The rear propshaft has also been renewed.

The brakes have been renewed.

The engine ignition parts have been renewed, the carburetors have been restored, etc. The car’s engine power was originally throttled with carburetors from the Range Rover’s 135 horsepower to 91. In this example, those throttlings have been removed.

The car’s engine and transmission work excellently and the car drives really well!

The engine oil and filters have just been changed, as well as the gearbox, transfer case and axle oils, as well as the radiator, clutch and brake fluids.

The majority of the restoration work was done by Grips Garage, which specializes in British classics, during 2025 and those invoices are available.

Registered in Finland (inspected and approved as a historic vehicle), inspection valid until November 2026.

Land Rover Defender 110 Td5 Station Wagon. Equipped for challenging conditions and adventures. Just inspected and serviced, an authentic and very original Land Rover.

The car has been sold as new from official Land Rover dealer in Germany and imported to Finland in 2006. Ownership history well known since then.

Equipment include Epsom Green metallic exterior, new stainless steel door and hatch hinges and sill trims. Gray tecno interior with new Mountney leather steering wheel.

Ready for adventures with just refurbished roof rack. Defender is fitted with Terrafirma Beadlock wheels with BF Goodrich 265/75/16 -AT tires. Other tire and wheels options are also available.

The car has just undergone a major B-service in Autorep, specialized in Land Rovers (01/2025 / 265 tkm’s) with engine oils with filters, differential oils , transmission and transfer case oils, clutch and brake fluids, coolants and a fuel filter all renewed.

In the last couple of years, a lot of wearing parts have also been replaced, which are noted in the booklet: Fuel pressure regulator, accessory belts, brake pads, rear door with glass, rear door seals, new windshield, new windshield washers, new mud flaps, new radiator, new stainless steel hinges, grille and headlight surroundings replaced, floor mats replaced, HD driveshaft flanges, steering shock absorber & drop arm replaced.

The chassis of the Defender has been rust proofed and is in good condition. The rear crossmember has just been renewed. The engine runs great and twists humbly. The transmission works great.

This Defender is a real pleasure to drive. Fresh Mot/Tüv inspection just made in 03/2025 and is valid until 03/2026.
