The Volkswagen Typ 1, or “Beetle”, originated at the opening of the 1934 Berlin Motor Show. Adolf Hitler wanted to offer the Germans an affordable car model that ordinary citizens could afford. The goal was to increase number of cars on German roads. The criteria was that the car had to fit a family of five, and that the car could handle 30-degree hills and highways at a speed of one hundred kilometers per hour. The car had to also withstand winter conditions and the consumption had to be no more than eight liters per hundred kilometers. A family car that enables all this should cost no more than a thousand reichsmarkts.

The task was taken on by the Austrian Ferdinand Porsche, who had experience in the design of NSU and Zündapp, among others. For the first ever Volkswagen, Porsche stole influences and technical innovations especially from the Czechoslovak Tatra, whose production stopped after the German occupation of the Czechoslovakian Sudetenland in 1938. The same year, the production of the Volkswagen Typ 1 began.

The Beetle became a success. In addition to its design, its characteristic features include a base plate with a separate body, a four-cylinder and four-stroke, air-cooled boxer engine. The suspension was implemented with torsion bars.

The rear-mounted engine and large 15-inch wheels for the era made the Beetle as a good car to drive also in the snow. Introduced under the name Kansanauto, the family car also became popular in Finland, where Beetles were imported from 1950. Also in Finland, 48 Beetles were assembled in Heinola at the Wihuri factory.

This Typ 1 Volskwagen, sold as new in Finland, is a 1300 cc engined “thin A-pillar -car”. The car was first registered on the second day of June 1966. History known since 1975, the car has been owned by the same owner until 2008. The 1966 car was already equipped with a 1280 cubic meter engine, and this particular car was also equipped with a Volkswagen’s original gasoline-powered heating unit.

The color of the car is its original Pearl White. The body of the car is neat and the surfaces also have traces of use and the patina of time, adding to the charisma of the old Volkswagen.

The interior has the original brown fabric upholstery. The upholstery of the front seats is worn and frayed. The car has a complete set of VW’s original black vinyl seat covers, which are installed on the front seats in the pictures.

The Beetle works great and is easy and effortless to drive. The engine was thoroughly serviced in October 2022: Carburetor, engine valves and ignition adjusted, engine oil changed and spark plugs renewed.

The car is registered as a museum vehicle. Inspected in May 2022, next inspection in 2026.

In early 50’s Sir John Black, who worked as a chairman of Standard-Triumph, decided that the Triumph would need a proper open sports car to compete with Morgan that Triumph was tried to buy. Sir Black gave a tight budget for Triumph and Triumph used existing chassis, suspension and inexpensive bodywork to built the first concept car of TR series Triumph. Target was to reach at least 90 mph top speed.

Triumph TR1 (20TS) was introduced in London Motorshow in 1952. As a result the 20 TS deservedly garnered praise about the design of front of the car and potentiality to be fast sports car. The interior of the car and the design of the rear, on the other hand, require a lot of development work. Triumph hired the British Racing Motors test driver Ken Richardson to test drive and develop the car further. The beginning of one of Great Britain’s greatest sports car stories was born.

The TR2 was introduced in 1953 Geneva Motorshown and followed by TR3 in 1955 and TR3A with new 2.2 litre four cylinder engine and disc brakes in 1957. In 1961 totally new designed TR4 by Giovanni Michelotti was introduced and 1965 it was upgraded with independent rear suspension.

In 1967 the TR -series got one of its greatest improvements when it finally got the 2.5 liter inline six engine. TR4 bodied car was offered for US market with two Stromberg carburettors and for other markets there was available TR5 with Lucas fuel injection. Again the next model was developed further based on the earlier ones. In 1968 Karmann redesigned the front end and rear end of the Michelotti’s TR body and the last model based to the very first TR-series, Triumph TR6 was born.

This car in question is the ninth Triumph TR6 ever produced and possibly the oldest surviving left-hand drive Triumph TR6. The car was first registered on June 30, 1969. The car is a rare export model designed for the European market and the car was sold new in Switzerland. The car has the original, only 1969 model year accessories, such as the model year correct steering wheel and Rostyle capsules. The car currently has wire-wheels with the new period correct tires. The car’s equipment also includes a heating device and overdrive that both work perfectly.

TR6 was brought to Finland in 2001. The first owner of the car in Finland was L. Tikkanen until 2007. The Triumph has been thoroughly restored during the ownership period of the first Finnish owner, respecting the originality. Based on the documents, the car’s body has been completely dismantled and the restoration has included a thorough renovation of the car’s technology, body and interior. The car left the factory in British Racing Green with a brown interior. However, Tikkanen did not like the green shade and painted the car body in Vanden Plas metallic orange shade during the body restoration. The upholstery has been renewed with the original materials in black.

After the first Finnish owner passed away, the car passed through the estate to the British car enthusiast S. Kokkonen in 2013. Two years later, the car was bought by the current owner, A. Pehkonen. Over the past few years, the car has been comprehensively refurbished and serviced. The engine injectors have been serviced and the injection feed pump renewed. The wearing parts of the suspension and brakes have been renewed. The overdrive has been restored and the ignition parts as well as the radiator hoses and electric fan have been renewed. The car’s black cloth roof has been renewed.

The car’s 150-horsepower engine is really perky with a superb throttle response and the difference to the milder TR6s of later models is significant. The engine pulls excellently and the gearbox, including the electric overdrive, works properly and precisely.

The body and paintwork of the car are in really good and impressive condition.

The Triumph is registered as a historic vehicle. The car’s inspection is valid until 06/2025 and the car is ready to be enjoyed.

The car is located in Vantaa, 25 minutes from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Views by appointment.

Towards the end of the 1950s, Volkswagen had a small family car in its collection, the Typ 1 Beetle, which had become a “ The People’s car”, Typ 2 vans and pick-up trucks, and the newly introduced coupé, Typ 14 Karmann-Ghia. A more spacious family car was missing, and the Typ 3 was designed to fill the gap. It was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1961.

The Typ 3 was initially introduced under the Volkswagen 1500 model name, after the cubic capacity of the car’s engine. The technology of the car was once again familiar from Beetle, with an air-cooled engine placed at the back and rear-wheel drive. Compared to the Typ 1, the car was about 15 centimeters longer and offered better space for both passengers and luggage. The front suspension built with transverse torsion bars also made the ride more comfortable and civilized. The car was initially presented in two body styles, a three-door Notchback, and a three-door Variant. In 1966, the VW 1600 TL Fastback, a hatchback with a 1580 cubic meter engine, came available.

This 1969 1600 TL Fastback in question is equipped with IRS rear suspension and disc brakes, and the car was sold new in Finland. However, the car remained standing in the 1980s in Somero, where it had been the car of a gentleman who worked as a machinist. VW enthusiast A.Erämaa bought the car in 2018, and the car was restored to traffic after 35 years of non-use.

The car’s engine and brakes were restored in 2018. The car’s engine is 1641 cubic meters and has a mild tuning camshaft. The car has electric ignition and the carburettors have been renovated in connection with the engine renovation. The car’s engine and transmission work perfectly. The engine twists nicely and pulls cheerfully.

The body of the car was thoroughly renovated and the body parts in poor condition, such as the one of the door and fender, were renewed. The VW was repainted in the original shade of red. The body has been finished by renewing the windshield, gaskets and body moldings.

The upholstery of the seats in the light interior has been renewed with light vinyl upholstery. The door and roof trim are still original to the car.

A fine specimen ready to be enjoyed.

The car is registered as a historic vehicle and the Mot/Tüv inspection is valid until 05/2024.

When the reconstruction after the Second World War had gained momentum, West Germany began to demand again stylish and sporty cars. The people’s car, the VW Beetle had been a success from the moment it was born, and the Beetle served as an opportunity for several body factories to design a coupé or convertible that stood out from the crowd. The first VW Beetle -based open-top cars with aluminum pontoon bodies were manufactured already in 1947 in Wuppertal by the body factory Drews, who named them VW Sport-Cabriolets. Drews’ example was followed by several body factories, such as Hebmüller, which operated in Wülfrath and Barmen, and Karmann, which operated in Osnabrück. However, the most famous sports car developed from Beetle is probably the Porsche 356, which started the production of Porsche’s own sports cars under the leadership of Ferry Porsche in 1948.

Volkswagen was saddened that its own collection could not find a match for the buyer base looking for sportier and more youthful cars. Volkswagen began to negotiate with Karmann about the production of a sporty body, but VW executives rejected the first proposals. However, Wilhelm Karmann had good relations with Luigi Segre of the Italian Carrozzeria Ghia body factory. The base plate of the Beetle was widened and many of the shapes were borrowed from the Sports Coupé d`Elegance designed by Ghia for Chrysler. In November 1953, the shapes designed by Ghia were accepted by both Karmann and Volkswagen, and in 1955 the production of the Typ 14 Karmann-Ghia Coupé, began. The bodies were made by hand at the Osnabrück factory and the car’s powertrain was from VW Beetle. Mass production made it possible to sell the cars at a cheaper price than those offered by small body shops, and already in the first year more than 10,000 cars were sold, clearly exceeding VW’s forecast of 3,000 cars.

This 1960 Typ 14 Karmann-Ghia was brought to Finland from California at the beginning of 2010. The current owner, A. Erämaa, bought the car at an auction in the United States, and the car has been thoroughly restored in Finland. The body has been restored and painted in the original shade of pearl white. The interior has been reupholstered and the ceiling has been renewed. For the 1960 model year, a more powerful engine and a fully synchronized gearbox were introduced. This individual’s engine has been thoroughly restored 1200cc, producing 30 horsepower. The gearbox is a fully synchronized four-speed.

The car’s engine runs and pulls excellently. The gearbox and transmission work perfectly. A really beatiful specimen that is a real joy to drive.

The car is registered as a historic vehicle, MOT/Tüv inspection valid until July 2024.

The car is located in Salo, Finland, 1 hour from Helsinki–Vantaa Airport. Presentations by agreement.

Chassis nr. 130596
Restored and rebuilt as period correct racer
Sold as new to Sweden
Sold to Ingelheim, Germany.

Norton is one of Great Britain’s traditional motorcycle manufacturer legends, which was started in 1898 by Jones Lansdowne Norton in Birmingham. Norton became famous especially as a motorcycle manufacturer that managed to set numerous motorcycle speed records before the world wars.

In 1966, the Norton Villiers Motorcycle Factory was established to continue Norton, following the purchase of Norton’s parent company, AMC, by Manganese Bronze Holding.

One year later, 1967 Norton-Villiers introduced the new Commando, developed as a successor for Norton Atlas, and with it an all-new twin-cylinder, 750cc pushrod engine. The new Isolastic frame made it possible to minimize engine vibrations and made this fast and powerful British motorcycle comfortable. The Norton was also both faster and more powerful than its most important competitorsTriumph and BSA. Britain’s biggest motorcycle magazine MCN chose Norton Commando as the best motorcycle of the year no less than four times in a row between 1968 and 1972!

This Norton Commando has been sold new in Sweden and it was imported to Finland in 2007. In Finland, the motorcycle has been thoroughly restored, including the engine, electrics and gearbox, and built as a modern Racer. Driven about 5000 kilometres since then.

The bike has a Norton aluminum tank and a cafe racer saddle. The fenders have also been updated to be more graceful in the racer spirit. The original Fastback saddle and front fender are kept and are included in the sale.

The bike works excellently and has its perky torque and power with great throttle response. The engine runs smoothly and the bike is easy to start. The sound of engine is just right for this kind of bike, and simply wonderful.

In 1948, at the Earls Court Motor Show in London, Jaguar presented the world’s fastest production car. The Jaguar XK 120, introduced as an open two seater, reached, as its name suggests, an unprecedented speed of 120 miles (193 kilometers) per hour.

The body of the car was designed by director and founder of Jaguar, Sir William Lyons himself. The shapes of the beautiful sports car body were praised and adored in the competition. The original shapes of the prototype car, frame number 660001, were largely preserved until production cars, but the body material soon changed from aluminum to steel. The first production car, the XK 120 with chassis number 670003, was delivered to Hollywood actor Clark Gable.

It wasn’t just a new car model, but the role of the XK 120 was much bigger. It served as a test bed for new XK engine, designed by Jaguar’s chief engineer William Heynes. The revolutionary inline six engine was equipped with two overhead camshafts, aluminium-alloy cylinder head and seven main bearings, producing a maximum output of 160 horsepower. The XK engine became one of the most prestigious six-cylinder engines of all time, which Jaguar used with various versions until the 1990s.

Already before the end of the Second World War, Jaguar knew how to design and make sports cars. Before the XK the latest sports car in production was the SS100. It was name came by Swallow Sidecar, the company that preceded Jaguar. 100 was named after the car’s power. SS100 was also successful in motor sports, both on gravel and on the track. The new XK 120 was no exception to Jaguar’s motorsport success and it not only broke speed records, but was also successful in Le Mans, Targa Florio, Mille Miglia and also in Monte Carlo rallies. Leslie Johnson, Clemente Biondetti, Ian Appleyard, Tommy Wisdom and Sir Stirling Moss, just to name a few motorsport legends who have raced with XK 120 Jaguars. In Finland SPJ Keinänen won Eläintarhan ajot – race with XK120 in 1951.

The motorsport success of the XK 120 signaled Jaguar’s direction far into the future and encouraged Lyons and Heynes to invest not only for the development of sports cars, but also in motorsport. The XK series was continued and in 1954 the larger XK 140 was introduced followed XK 150 in 1957, that was also available as a four-seater.

This exact XK 120 Fixed Head Coupe was manufactured in Coventry on 22.05.1952 and was delivered as new to New York. The car’s ownership history is known since 1967, when Franklyn E. Cadmus, who lived in New Jersey, bought the car. He owned the car for more than 20 years until November 1989, when Finnish R. Hartto bought the car and brought it to Finland. The original title and bill of sale are kept, as are all documents related to customs clearance of the car. R. Harto’s idea was to restore the Jaguar, but it remained standing as a project in the garage. In 2010, the car was bought by L. Hagelstam.

During L. Hagelstam’s ownership, the car has been restored by workshops specializing in the restoration and repair of British classics, Triangle Motors and Grips Garage. The complete 100 % restoration has been done to Concours standard and is thoroughly documented.

The restoration of the car is unequivocally 100 % complete and has included, among other things, a thorough restoration of the body and frame, a complete restoration and rebuild of the original Matching Numbers engine and gearbox, electrical renewal, exhaust and brake renewal. The interior has been restored with every detail, including the steering wheel, sound insulation and wooden parts.

The body is finished in 1952’s Jaguar Pastel Green Metallic color over Suede Green leather upholstery. In the restoration of the body, the details, such as seeter straps and chrome parts, have also been renewed.

Nothing has been compromised in the restoration of the car and the documents show that it cost significantly more than the asking price is. The final result is not less than probably one of the best restored XK 120s in the world.

The car is registered as a historic vehicle, Mot/Tüv inspected until 05/2025 and ready to enjoy.

Introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1955, the MGA was a revolutionary British roadster sportscar. The MGA, which replaced MG’s T-series, had a low, sleek and beautiful body and the car was produced between 1955 and 1962. Together, more than 100,000 cars were built in Abingdon, New South Wales, England, and Australia. Most of the cars were sold to the United States and Europe outside Great Britain. The car was successful on both the Le Mans and Nascar racetracks, and its driving characteristics garnered praise from ordinary consumers and world stars. The MG MGA became a classic whose role in the birth of the British roadster sports car concept cannot be underestimated.

This first generation MGA has been restored and its original 1500cc BMC A engine has been updated with BMC 1800cc B series engine. The motor is the advanced version of the B series, equipped with 5 frame bearings. The cylinder head has been machined and head gasket renewed in 2022. Also clutch has been renewed in 2022. The car’s electrics have also been renewed.

The body of the car have been refurbished and the body painted in MG’s original Orient Red shade. The interior, including the carpets and seats, have been renewed with original shapes and colors, with black leatherette and red strips.

The steering wheel is updated with wooden Nardi and the tailgate is equipped with a luggage rack.

The car’s wheels have been refurbished and the rear wheels have a slightly wider lip than the original. The pill capsules are new, as well as the A100 Rollster classic tires manufactured in Finland by Nokia, have been renewed recently.

Original side windows, canvas roof and plenty of MGA spare parts included. Also a set of original MGA steel rims included if wanted.

The car’s engine runs and pulls excellent, and the gearbox works exactly flawlessly. The bigger B-series engine makes the light sports car a significantly quicker and also enables highway speeds at roadtrips.

The car has valid Mot/Tüv inspection until 07 / 2023, the MOT/Tüv will be renewed before the handover to the next owner.

The car is located in Vantaa, 25 minutes from Helsinki–Vantaa Airport. Views by appointment only.
